Valentina Emiliani

Wave front engineering microscopy group in the Vision Institute

The Emiliani lab (IDV, Paris, France) develops advanced optical methods for the investigation of visual circuits in vitro and in vivo.

The “Wave front engineering microscopy” group comprises 20 people with complementary expertise in non-linear optics and neurophysiology. The team has pioneered the use of wave-front engineering for neuroscience. We destablished novel techniques for non-linear efficient photoactivation of caged compounds and optogenetics molecules: computer generated holography, generalized phase contrast & temporal focusing. We now focus on the use of these innovative approaches to investigate the functional connectivity and signal processing in the visual system.
